Prepared International (PPI) is an expert consultancy that specializes in research and capacity building services in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction, Preparedness and Resilience, as well as Climate Change adaption and Emergency Management. The experts at PPI work together to inform political decision-making, while providing effective capacity building strategies in the long term. The PPI approach encompasses a holistic set of tools for approaching Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), including the development of preparedness models, organizational development and restructuring, selfadaptive systems, and strategies for governance and mass evacuation.

Depending on the profile of the candidate, tasks could be to support a project related to High Impact, low probability disasters in the EU, nature based solutions in disaster context, urban resilience in the Middle East and strengthening of disaster preparedness in other countries including in the Pacific region. Topics of the internship can vary and can be discussed according to thematic interests of the candidate. Given that the intern will support international projects related to disaster risk management, the internship might entail travelling as part of a project-related mission. In case travel leads to places outside of the EU, PPI will cover additional insurances and vaccinations as needed.

We offer internships for master and/or bachelor students to focus on:
1) Fundraising work stream: working on project-specific technical and commercial sections of slide decks for investor presentations. Support with modelling, including agriculture and forestry related assumptions (growth, prices etc.) and carbon
2) Business Development work stream:
a. Provide support on drafting the technical sections (e.g. agroforestry planting plan) for the business plans of our future projects
b. Provide support on designing capital assistance and contract farming schemes for our new social forestry projects
3) Carbon work stream: analysis of possible, suitable carbon pools and certification schemes for our future projects, in close consultation with our carbon expert

We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking student(s) combining technical skills with a business mindset. Particular interest in the SE Asia region is appreciated. English writing and speaking skills are needed, Bahasa Indonesia and/or German is a plus but not a requirement. The internship program will start in September 2024.

SkyNRG is a scale-up that works at the forefront of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). For our headquarters in Amsterdam, we are looking for 2 interns to strengthen our team: one in the Future Fuels team and one in the Capacity Development team.

In the Future Fuels team, we have 3 focus areas:

1. SAF capacity development: initiating and executing the first development phase of our own commercial-scale SAF production facilities
2. R&D: building and sharing knowledge to develop SAF technologies and concepts with our technology partners
3. Advisory: supporting key players in the aviation industry to navigate their transition to net-zero, through creating SAF strategies and building SAF knowledge

The Capacity Development team focuses purely on the subsequent development phases of commercial-scale SAF production facilities.
This includes more in-depth engineering, sustainability and financial analyses.

As an intern you will contribute to one or two projects in these focus areas by working closely with the team. Based on your interests and background, we will jointly determine the focus of your internship, including in which team you will perform your internship.

Typical activities include:
• Conducting technical, financial or sustainability assessments on future SAF production facilities
• Developing knowledge on promising SAF feedstocks and/or technologies
• Performing analyses to understand the potential of a certain region for SAF production
• Supporting on business development for new opportunities
• Writing reports and composing presentations

Wil je ervaring opdoen in ontwikkelstrategieën van ruimtelijke innovaties binnen een gemeentelijke context? Het team Externe Subsidies en Fondsen is op zoek naar een Master-stagiair die onderzoek kan doen naar de rol van innovatie in het oplossen van ruimtelijke opgaven.

De gemeente Utrecht staat voor grote vraagstukken zoals de snelle groei van de stad, het zorgen voor voldoende woon- en werkplekken, de duurzaamheidstransitie in het energie- en mobiliteit systeem en het creëren van een sociale, gezonde en veilige stad. Technologische en niet-technologische innovaties, zoals digitalisering, sociale innovaties, nieuwe samenwerkingsvormen, bieden kansen om bij te dragen aan deze opgaven mits goed ingebed in de gemeentelijke context.

Om de ontwikkeling van deze innovatieve oplossingen te ontwikkelen, demonstreren en op schaal toe te passen in de stad willen we als gemeentelijke organisatie de juiste condities en voorwaarden scheppen. Hier wordt binnen de ontwikkelorganisatie Ruimte van de gemeente Utrecht op verschillende plekken hard aan gewerkt en dit willen we graag verder versterken.

Over de opdracht
In deze stage-opdracht zul je onderzoek doen naar de innovatiecapaciteit van de gemeente Utrecht en waar de kansen liggen om deze te verbeteren zodat innovatieproject beter uitgevoerd en ingebed kunnen worden. Je activiteiten zullen bestaan uit desk research naar innovatiestrategieën binnen gemeenten (zoals het raamwerk innovatiecapaciteit van TNO), het interviewen van medewerkers en het analyseren van de resultaten samen met de betrokken adviseurs. Op basis hiervan zul je voorstellen doen hoe de innovatie-capaciteit van de gemeente Utrecht kan worden versterkt.

Je wordt onderdeel van het team Externe Subsidies en Fondsen van de ontwikkelorganisatie Ruimte. In dit team wordt gewerkt aan het ontwikkelen en uitvoeren van innovatieve (Europese) subsidieprojecten voor het helpen realiseren van Utrechtse opgaven.

– Bachelor diploma en student doet nu een Masteropleiding Innovatie Sciences, Innovation Management, Public Administration of andere masteropleiding met een focus op innovatie en publiek bestuur.
