Technical Research Assistant

Assignment

Your role will include:
• Conduct research around different restoration projects (reforestation, forest conservation, agricultural land management, grassland management...).
● Research for developing carbon profiles.
● Support in the VCS (Verified Carbon Standard) and CCB (Climate, Community & Biodiversity) certification;
● Support in the development of technical documentation such as monitoring plans, sampling designs for field data collection, interpretation of satellite imagery, etc;
● Academic writing and assisting with Project Documentation;
● Support restoration projects in the broadest sense.

Profile

To be eligible for the position, you are/have:
● Completed (or be in the last year) of an Environmental-related degree;
● Have a strong knowledge of forestry, ecology, sustainability, or similar fields;
● Being able to document methodological processes and write high-quality reports in an academic style;
● Experience with remote sensing tools (e.g. QGIS, LiDAR, SAR);
● Being able to work both in team and independently;
● Fluency in written and spoken English, Portuguese is a plus;
● Strong interest in environment-related areas, especially in the restoration and conservation fields;
● Preferably based in the Netherlands, we love to work together at the office, as it facilitates supervision and enables short communication and feedback loops.
