Energy Policy Making Internship

Type Regular internship
Assignment

GR-IQ is a consulting firm that advises companies on how to enhance the management of their relationships with the government and the general public.
We do this by helping the government relations (GR), and public affairs (PA) teams inside corporates improve their capability to deliver value and mitigate risk.
The company offers assessment, strategy, and transformation services to the GRPA function.
It has served multiple clients with global operations across industries.
In our client organizations, we report to the GRPA Functional Leader or the Board-member responsible for the function.
For more information, visit us at: www.gr-iq.com.

At a macro-level, energy companies have collaborated and exerted influence over policy-making in a relatively predictable way for about one hundred years.
Climate change, the energy transition, new technology, the demands of society and the agendas of government have significantly altered this dynamic.
At GR-IQ, we are interested in how this reality is changing the way businesses engage their external stakeholders.

What types of coalitions are most effective?
How are companies changing the way they shape the GRPA function?
What authority does the GRPA function have vis-a-vis the business?
What is the role of technology in improving effectiveness?
How is success measured?
How are governments changing their policy making process and what does that mean for energy businesses?
And how do the different types of energy companies answer these questions differently?

To create the insights we are looking for, GR-IQ is bringing on board a talented and driven student to work on a study to identify the GRPA challenges and solutions in the Energy Industry.

Your role
You will frame and conduct the study, which involves reviewing relevant literature, as well as a field study amongst participants in the energy industry.
The field study will include interviews with practicing GRPA leaders, trade associations, government and international institutions.
In addition, you will collect data on the basis of GR-IQ's proprietary assessment tool from field study participants (i.e. interviewees) and other relevant respondents you identify.
You will lead the study, schedule appointments, conduct interviews, prepare interview summaries, operate the surveying tool and carry out the analysis.
Your report will include tables, charts and an executive summary.

Terms & conditions
We are looking for someone to spend between 24 and 40 hours a week on this project for up to 6 months.
In our experience, the quality of our work benefits from being together.
However, you should expect maximum flexibility to carry out the work, from wherever you prefer, especially after the early stages of the project.
This is a compensated internship.

Profile

Your skills

The successful candidate:
· Is highly analytical and able to codify seemingly unstructured information.
· Is able to prioritize and organize different tasks into a program of work.
· Is technologically literate (Linked IN and Microsoft 365 - especially PowerPoint and Excel - are considered essential tools to master).
· Has an investigative mindset, energy, drive, and a can-do attitude.
· Has an excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written.
· Is not afraid to share their ideas and contribute new perspectives to the company.
· Comfortably alternates between operational topics, strategic implications and vice versa.

Your academic background
The successful candidate is currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program and preferably combines an interest in international business, strategy, and marketing with a passion for international relations, world affairs, government and public affairs.
